As we head into the last month of the year, we begin to reflect on the months behind us and think about the year we’ve had at Greentrike. One of the many things we are grateful for in 2022 is the corporate leadership we have seen in our volunteerism. Several local organizations have volunteered their time, energy, and expertise to assist with our programs and events, and in doing so, have increased our community reach and impact.

Here are four local organizations that we want to thank for their commitment to volunteerism in 2022!

Columbia Bank

Columbia Bank volunteered with us on multiple occasions, preparing more than 200 Greentrike Cares Kits to be distributed to local organizations that serve children and families and are in need of play-based activities, creating decorations for holiday parties, and manning the snow cone booth at the Greentrike Back to School Festival in August.

Medex Northwest

A group of ten volunteers from Medex Northwest assembled hundreds of dental health kits for Play to Learn Pierce County. The kits will be distributed to all Play to Learn participants during Dental Health week to increase community access to essentials like toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Sound Credit Union

Sound Credit Union volunteered with us to complete two big projects! During an afternoon of service, volunteers assembled 270 Greentrike Cares Kits for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, and in August, another group assisted with our banner sustainability project. Volunteers cleaned hundreds of old canvas light post banners to prepare them for transformation into canvas tote bags.

KeyBank

KeyBank volunteers assembled Greentrike Cares Kits and assisted with preparations for our annual fundraiser, the Right to Play Gala. Many of the volunteers came to the Children’s Museum of Tacoma to work on the project, while several volunteers chose to have a portion of the kits delivered to their office to enable offsite work. KeyBank is one of our longest standing corporate volunteers and has helped us with countless projects over the years.

Thank you, KeyBank, Columbia Bank, Sound Credit Union, Medex Northwest, and all the other organizations, community groups, families, and individuals who volunteer with us each year! Your support helps us reach more children, youth, and families and bolsters our ability to build a just and joyful community.

We are always looking for volunteers to assist in the Children’s Museums of Tacoma and at JBLM, Play to Learn Pierce County, special events throughout the year, and more. Head to our Volunteer page for details about our main volunteer opportunities and information about the volunteer application process.
