The Children’s Museum of Tacoma at 1501 Pacific Ave is very excited to host two special storytime activities honoring and celebrating Juneteenth, also known as Jubilee Day, Freedom Day, and Emancipation Day, which commemorates the day in 1865 that enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned that they were free. For families with young children, books can be a great start for important conversations about understanding the history and traditions of Juneteenth!
