Happy October! With the coming of fall, the weather is getting chillier and rainier, but Pierce County folks are still showing up for community events! Bundle up and join your neighbors for these fun and family-friendly festivities all month long. Admittance to each event comes at no cost and requires no registration.

From 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., enjoy a huge variety of activities including hay rides, a petting zoo, carnival games, pumpkin carving and launching, and way more! Plus, bring your non-perishable food and personal care items to donate through the Kiwanis Club of Gig Harbor to the Peninsula FISH Food Bank. All of the fun, as well as live music and tasty food, is happening at Sehmel Homestead Park at 10123 78th Avenue NW in Gig Harbor!

Truck and Tractor Day is an annual festival celebrating the fall, featuring activities such as hayrides, pumpkin tossing, crafts, and more! Children will also have an opportunity to explore and investigate a variety of trucks and tractors. This event will take place from 12 – 3 p.m. at Fort Steilacoom at 8714 87th Ave SW in Lakewood.

McKinley Hill | October 21

The annual HONK! Fest is a community music festival featuring tons of local bands and groups – but rather than a formal stage, these artists will be marching and dancing with the audience. Visitors are also encouraged to bring their own instruments and noisemakers to join in on the fun, too! The festival will be taking place from 1 – 5 p.m. at the McKinley Hill Business District in Parkland.

Foss Waterway Seaport Maritime Museum | October 29

Check out the Foss Waterway Seaport Maritime Museum from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. for free museum admission, spooky science activities, craft projects, and more! Plus, at 1 p.m., some costumed party-goers will be paddling the Thea Foss waterway for a group photo! The museum, and the event, are located at 705 Dock St. in Tacoma.

Drop in to People’s Community Center at 1602 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Tacoma for fun activities for children and youth! From 4 – 6 p.m., all ages can enjoy arts and crafts, an inflatable obstacle course, and a visit from the Flight Club Foundation with their exotic birds! Then, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., Middle and High Schoolers will be enjoying food and playing some video games!
