Greentrike joined the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties on CityLine to share the return of Summer Late Nights, a free citywide summer program for middle and high school students. Now entering its fourth year, the program continues to provide safe, welcoming spaces for teens across Tacoma, with all 10 sites open Monday through Friday. With support from the City of Tacoma, Tacoma Creates, Tacoma Public Schools, Parks Tacoma, Boys & Girls Clubs, the YMCA, and other expanded learning partners, Summer Late Nights gives young people a place to connect, play, eat, and spend their evenings in a positive environment.
The conversation highlighted the heart of the program: teens showing up, building friendships, trying new activities, and having space to simply be themselves. From basketball, games, music, art activities, and Nintendo Switches to meals from local restaurants, Summer Late Nights creates an environment where youth can have fun, feel cared for, and return night after night. Greentrike and YMCA leaders also shared gratitude for the partners, sponsors, and participants who make the program possible and keep it free for Tacoma teens.
