This Thursday, join us as we welcome guests from the Buffalo Soldiers Museum to the Children’s Museum of Tacoma for storytime and educational, hands-on activities!

This program introduces concepts of American History, culture, and arts, sparking interest in learning in a fun, age-appropriate way. The program looks back at American culture and lifestyles of 1866 and life in comparison to today.

The Buffalo Soldiers Museum has created five short stories that feature the artwork of Fredrick Remington based on paintings:

🐎 “Horsepower: The Real Deal” – What was it like when horses were the only form of transportation available?

🌽 “Living in the Old West” – What was it like to grow all your food?

💧 “Priority Water” – What was it like to have limited access to water without modern plumbing or infrastructure?

🏕️ “Traveling the West” – What was it like to have to essentially camp all the time?

🧭 “Wayfinding in the Old West” – How did people navigate without modern tools like GPS or maps?
