October 25 – 31 is Spirit Week at the Children’s Museums of Tacoma and at JBLM!

You’re invited to dress up in your most playful costumes with us all week long, and try out extra special Power Play activities in the Studio each day!

Plus, tag your Museum on Instagram (@cmtacoma or @cmjblm) or Facebook (Children’s Museum of Tacoma or Children’s Museum at JBLM) in your Spirit Week photos by November 1 to be entered for a chance to win a FREE Museum membership!

The themes for each day are:

💈 Saturday (Oct. 25): Wacky Hair Day

We’re bringing our silliest styles to the Museum along with our creative and playful spirits!

• Tacoma Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• JBLM Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Power Play: Wiggle Wonders – Get ready to twist, glue, and giggle your way into creativity! In Wiggle Wonders, kids will use colorful pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and glue to bring their wildest ideas to life. Whether it’s a spooky creature, a silly monster, or an imaginative alien, every creation is as unique as its maker.

• This Power Play will take place at 1 p.m. at both Museums.

🕰️ Sunday (Oct. 26): Throwback Day

Join us in rewinding time! We’re dressing up in our favorite decade-inspired outfits.

• Tacoma Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• JBLM Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Power Play: Moon Catchers – Reach for the stars and create your own glowing masterpiece! In Moon Catchers, kids will explore color and light using contact paper, tissue paper, and black construction paper. When finished, their creations will shine beautifully in the light—just like the moon in the night sky.

• This Power Play will take place at 1 p.m. at both Museums.

👽 Monday (Oct. 27): Space Day

From astronauts to aliens, with all sorts of outer space dwellers welcome, the possibilities are infinite – and beyond!

• Tacoma Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Members-only)
• JBLM Hours: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Low Sensory)

Power Play: Build your own AstroBop – Blast off into creativity! In Build Your Own AstroBop, kids will design and build their very own space-inspired creations using cardboard, paint, scissors, tape, and other fun craft materials. Whether it’s a friendly outer-space robot, a rocket ship, every AstroBop is one in the universe!

• This Power Play will take place at 1 p.m. at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma and 11 a.m. at the Children’s Museum at JBLM.

🌙 Wednesday (Oct. 29): Pajama Day

We’re rolling out of bed and straight into play to spend the day in our comfiest pajamas!

• Tacoma Hours: 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Public Hours), 2 – 5 p.m. (Low Sensory)
• JBLM Hours: Closed

Power Play: Make your Own Stuffed Animal Portrait – Bring your favorite plush friend to life on paper! In Make Your Own Stuffed Animal Portrait, kids will use colored pencils, watercolors, and oil pastels to create artistic portraits of their beloved stuffed animals. Whether it’s a floppy dog, a cuddly bear, or a magical creature, each portrait will capture the personality and charm that makes your stuffed buddy special.

• This Power Play will take place at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma.

🐬 Thursday (Oct. 30): Under the Sea

Dive into a day of play by dressing up in your favorite ocean-inspired outfit!

• Tacoma Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• JBLM Hours: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Power Play: Glow Buddies – Let your creativity shine—literally! In Make Your Glow Buddies, kids will combine pipe cleaners, glow sticks, paper cups, markers, and streamers to create bright, glowing characters that come alive in the dark. Glow Buddy will light up smiles and spark imagination.

• This Power Play will take place at 1 p.m. at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma and 11 a.m. at the Children’s Museum at JBLM.

🦸 Friday (Oct. 31): Costume Day

For our last Spirit Day of the month, we’re dressing up in our favorite family-friendly costumes!

• Tacoma Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• JBLM Hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Power Play: Spirit Day Adventures – Get ready for a day full of fun, mess, and imagination! In Spirit Day Adventures, kids will explore textures, colors, and creativity through three exciting hands-on experiences: Oobleck with Treasure, Pumpkin Gut Exploring, and Spider Web Creation. Each station invites children to play, explore, and learn using their senses. Jump into Spirit Day Adventures and discover the joy of learning through touch, texture, and imagination!

• This Power Play will take place at 1 p.m. at both Museums.
